Bjork’s ex files for custody of child

Matthew Barney, the former partner of Icelandic musician Bjork, has reportedly filed for custody of their child.

Bjork, 49, has a 12-year-old-daughter, Isadora, with the New York-based multimedia businessman and, according to reports, Barney has said in the lawsuit filed at Brooklyn Supreme Court that the singer is spending nearly all of the parent time with Isadora.

Barney has accused his former partner of sacrificing their daughter’s emotional well-being to fulfill her own “selfish desires”. He claimed that Bjork feels that as the mother she deserves greater rights than the father does, as well as the fact she is of the belief that he is responsible for the break-up of the family.

Bjork and Barney were in a relationship for 13 years before splitting in 2013 – a break-up that the Icelandic artist admitted was her inspiration behind the her latest album, Vulnicura, in which she talks in depth about the pain endured when parting ways with someone after so long.

The musician spends her time between the Icelandic capital Reykjavik and New York City, but Barney has reportedly said that Isadora wants to spend more time in the US. He argued that their daughter has spoken of her wish to spend equal time with her parents, but that the child’s desires were not being considered because Bjork wanted to spend more time with her.
