Porn could be used in Denmark’s sex ed classes

A Danish sexology professor wants to see porn introduced into sex education classes in schools across the country so children can learn the difference between onscreen sex and what really goes on beneath the sheets.

Aalborg University Professor Christian Graugaard, who claims that many teens now have unrealistic expectations due to viewing hardcore porn, said that it would be better for young Danes to be “critical consumers” rather than learning “boring, technical” stuff such as putting a condom on a cucumber.

Research shows that the vast majority of teenagers (99 per cent of boys and 86 per cent of girls) in the Nordics have seen porn, and Graugaard insisted that schools needed to take the initiative and show their students that their sex life is likely to be very different than what they see on porn sites.

The professor explained that if teens tried to copy the action of porn stars, it would end up in “broken necks and disappointment”.

Meanwhile, the students in one class in Aalborg have already reacted positively to the suggestion, with ninth-grader Anders Kaagaard saying if you could learn the difference between true love between two people when they sleep together and the hardcore porn and orgies seen online then it could be a good thing.

In 1967, Denmark removed a ban on pornography then two years later the Scandinavian country became the first in the world to legalise it. A survey last October revealed that three-quarters of men and a third of women in Denmark watch porn.
