Sigurdsson to return to Swansea

Sigurdsson to return to SwanseaTottenham Hotspur forward Gylfi Sigurdsson looks set to seal a move to Premier League rivals Swansea City after the two clubs agreed a swap deal involving the Welsh side’s full-back Ben Davies.

If completed, the move would see the Icelandic international, 24, return to one of his old stomping grounds after enjoying a successful loan spell at the Liberty Stadium during the 2011-12 season under then boss Brendan Rodgers. He has flown back from Spurs’ pre-season tour of the US in order to discuss personal terms with the Swans.

In addition to the swap involving Sigurdsson and Davies, the Welsh club’s Dutch international goalkeeper Michel Vorm looks set to be heading to the English capital if the two clubs can agree a fee. Swansea will be unhappy to see two of last season’s star performers depart, but the arrival of Sigardsson is sure to soften the blow.

Sigurdsson was loaned to the Swans from German club 1899 Hoffenheim in 2011-12 and became a firm favourite with the fans, scoring seven times in 18 appearances. Just last week, Crystal Palace agreed a deal in principal for the player with Tottenham, but it appears he has opted to head back to familiar surroundings rather than stay in London and join Tony Pulis’s side.
