Iceland president’s Bangladesh visit delayed but not cancelled

olafur1Subsequent to IceNews reports on the Icelandic president’s planned arrival in Bangladesh on Tuesday (26th August), the visit has since been cancelled and then rescheduled in unexplained circumstances.

The president, Olafur Ragnar Grimsson, is now expected to arrive in Dhaka on Friday for a four-day official visit, MonstersAndCritics.com reports.

Grimsson will chair an international symposium on climate change at Dhaka University and meet with Bangladesh’s President Iajuddin and other senior members of the caretaker government.

Iceland’s president is also expected to hold a meeting with Nobel laureate Mohammad Yunus, the founder of Grameen Bank, which pioneered micro-credits for poor farmers and cottage industries.
